The basics
What is Pulsida?
Pulsida is a small menu bar app for Mac that keeps your Mac awake, with or without the display on, and keeps it working even with the lid closed.
Which Macs does Pulsida work on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
Which languages does Pulsida speak?
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Closed lid
Does Pulsida really work with the lid closed?
Yes. Turn on Closed lid and close your Mac. The screen turns off and your Mac keeps working, with no external display needed.
Why does Pulsida ask for my password?
Keeping a Mac awake with the lid closed needs permission from an administrator. Pulsida asks once, the first time you turn on Closed lid, and never again.
What happens if Pulsida quits unexpectedly?
Your Mac goes back to its normal sleep on its own within a minute.
How do I remove the closed-lid setup?
Open Pulsida's settings, find Closed-lid setup and choose Remove.
Safety
What if my battery runs low?
On battery with the lid closed, Pulsida turns closed-lid mode off at 10% and sends you a notification.
What if my Mac gets too hot?
Pulsida turns closed-lid mode off if your Mac gets critically hot, and lets you know.
Where should I keep my Mac while it works with the lid closed?
On a desk or another hard, open surface. Never in a bag.
Privacy
Does Pulsida collect any data?
No analytics, no tracking and no accounts. Pulsida only checks your license and looks for updates.
Can Cat mode see what I type?
No. Cat mode drops input while it's on. It never reads or stores it.
Can I turn off automatic update checks?
Yes, in Pulsida's settings.
Buying
How much does Pulsida cost?
$9, once. No subscription.
Can I use one license on several Macs?
Yes, on up to three Macs at a time.
How do I move my license to a new Mac?
Choose Deactivate on this Mac in Pulsida's settings on the old Mac, or remove it in the customer portal. Then activate on the new one.
Who processes my payment?
Polar, our merchant of record. Polar handles the payment, any sales tax or VAT, and your receipt. Your card details never reach us.
